9:08am. Streets buzz with a renewed aliveness, so will I. Welcome phase 2.
11:11pm. And so we return back to the light.
12:10am. I see your fire. Invite it in. Open the windows. Let the summer breeze of togetherness unite our hearts and expand the shape of influence to incite, inform, ignite the change.
8:32am. Bell Hooks also writes: ‘When we drop fear, we can draw nearer to people, we can draw nearer to the earth, we can draw nearer to all the heavenly creatures that surround us.’
5:39pm. Spacious.
10:42am. This is about the long game. Let us own the way we look at each other on the street, let us examine and excavate the way we think. Let us understand the depths of centuries of deep seated racial injustice and suffering, let us return to our roles with clarity in speaking up, in hiring, in loving, in seeing, in feeling with a heart that is big enough to hold and to lift each other up. #blacklivesmatter Now. Then. Always.
10:29pm. Radical kindness requires a softening beneath our masks.
8:14pm. Let me tell you a story.
8:48pm. Each night this week my dreams have been overflowing with messages about racial strife and injustice. The dreams differ in story lines, but unite with an underlying urge to speak up. To use my voice for good: to advocate clearly, loudly, unequivocally for the Black community. I own my responsibility in building and repairing the brokenness in our world. As centuries of suffering and deep seated racial injustice rise to the surface, collectively we are finally waking up. Black Lives Matters.
I spent the last few days in nature, my first time away from NYC in 12 weeks. A spontaneous solace, I savored the space and a short hiatus from social media. Even while physically away, I felt the pulse of my city and the voice of the Black Community beating within my heart and waking me up each day before sunrise. I respond to the tug by continuing to excavate subconscious patterns and make space to learn and unlearn, to listen and to do better.
I am here on this planet for a reason, it begins and ends with love. I stand for human rights, I stand for justice when truth, I stand for a collective healing so that the love our Black Community deserves is possible, first with non-negotiable rights and opportunity. #blacklivesmatter
